Dyalog for Linux

There are two separate editions of Dyalog for LINUX; Personal Edition (PE) and Commercial Edition (CE).

Personal Edition

This product contains the full developer version of the Dyalog program which you may use to develop applications for personal use and for use by other Dyalog for Linux licences. However, Dyalog for Linux (PE) does not include a run-time version nor any run-time distribution rights.

Commercial Edition

This product comprises:

arrow the full developer version of the Dyalog pogram
arrow the run-time version of the Dyalog program (end-user GUI support, but no developer session)
arrow the TCP/IP server version of the Dyalog program (no user-interface)
arrow the ASCII terminal version of the Dyalog program ( *SM user interface)

With the exception of the full developer version, all these versions may be used to deliver applications to end-users, and may be distributed to others, subject to the purchase of the appropriate run-time and/or server licences.

Run-Time Licences

Compatibility

All implementations of Dyalog are built from common source code and are compatible in most major respects. Dyalog for Linux includes all of the features of Dyalog Windows with the following exceptions which are not implemented:

arrow Shared variables (DDE)
arrow COM support, including ActiveXControl, OLEServer, OLEClient and OCXClass objects
arrow Support for the Microsoft .NET Framework

Dyalog for Windows workspaces saved under Microsoft Windows may be loaded by Dyalog for Linux and vice versa. However, GUI objects saved in workspaces are not cross-platform compatible and will be discarded when the workspace is loaded on a different platform.

The Dyalog GUI is compatible across the Windows and Linux platforms, and all GUI objects supported by Dyalog for Microsoft Windows are implemented in Dyalog for Linux. However certain differences in the appearance and behaviour of GUI objects may occur due to differences in fonts and Windows Managers.

This means that most Dyalog GUI applications designed to run under Microsoft Windows will run properly under Dyalog for Linux. Even the use of *NA to call Windows API functions is fully supported under Linux and other UNIX platforms.
