Welcome to the Spring 2013 edition of DYALOGue
Welcome to the Spring 2013 edition of DYALOGue. Appropriately, the woods have just about turned green and I am typing this while enjoying a lovely view from my window. I am also full of optimism and positive thoughts about our corporate road map.
As always, it's been a busy start to the year in Dyalog. We launched Version 13.2 on time, and if you haven't yet had an opportunity to see what goodies we have in the new version check it out here.
There has been a flurry of activity in the development department which has prompted our new CTO Blog to go live.
Dyalog has now reached a stage where we have realised that we need a dedicated Documentation Manager, and I am delighted to introduce you to Fiona (Fi), who will undertake that role for us going forward.
Dyalog APL for the Raspberry Pi has progressed by leaps and bounds, and the 'boys toys' have now resulted in a programmable robot, which you can read about in this newsletter.
We're busy organising the finer details of Dyalog '13 – but already now I urge you to mark your calendar for October 20-24 (both days inclusive) where we will meet up for the user conference in Florida, USA. We will come back with further information about the programme and the workshops and courses, as soon as the registration system opens – before the summer holiday season kicks in.
The 5th annual Dyalog APL contest was kick-started 30th April 2013. This year, we're using a new format in order to encourage even more students to participate. Please help us spread the word!
Morten and I have also been touring the world this spring, with seminars in the US, attending APL Germany and FinnAPL. In Germany we even managed to get the opportunity to demonstrate the Raspberry Pi Robot.
Later this month – 17-19 May – Morten, John Scholes and Dan Baronet will attend the UK Moot. If you're based in the UK and would like to attend, check it out. The event will start around lunchtime Friday 17th with the AGM at 14.30 followed by a free Barbecue for AGM attendees (courtesy of the sponsors) with the moot continuing into the evening, all Saturday and 'til 16.00 on Sunday.
I would also like to remind you that Dyalog is hosting yet another of the popular Introduction to Dyalog APL courses - 17-21 June 2013 at our offices in Bramley, UK. This 5 day course is aimed for those who are new to APL and the course will be taught by Bernard Legrand, the author of “Mastering Dyalog APL”. If you would like to attend, or know someone who might be interested in attending, you can find all the details on our website.
Until next time, I hope you enjoy your reading – and the Spring.
